In NSW how can i get into Landscaping and design?

I'm 26yrs old female I have no experience but i have an eye for detail. Do i have to do a course ? If so how long does it go for. Or do i just approach business's and ask for an apprentaship? thanx

I believe selected TAFE campuses offer horticulture courses. You will need to complete at least that before any landscaping company will hire you.

Can you name a plant just by looking at it ? Knowing your plants and what conditions they can survive in is an integral part of landscaping. Just having an artistic eye isn't enough.

Here is the link to Certificate 2 in Horticulture at TAFE.

You know the landscaping at the entrance of business/complexes (often around where the sign is)? I'm looking for a website that shows a ton of photos of various entrance landscaping. I'm trying to design a curving bank for the front of a business and am hunting for landscaping ideas.

These should get you started:

We've tried thorny plants, potted plants, ground cover. Ideas for curbing the behavior are welcomed also.

They're bored - run them when you get home from work and give them toys to play with, bones to chew on, etc. when you're not home. Crate training might not be a bad idea if they are that destructive.

Planting Trees and Shrubs

Flowers and little plants are nice, but they don't have the beauty or the robustness of trees and plants.

If you'd like some privacy on your property, and if you would like to invest some cash in making your house look better, planting some plants and trees is surely the way to go.

Though you'll spend more on these things than you would on plants and flowers, they're going to last so much longer. Trees can grow for good or at the very least till you have got to cut them down, but in numerous cases, they're going to outlive you. Your plants are going to last a considerable time too. You do not want to plant trees and plants if you don't own the property, unless you ask the owner for authorization. There are special rules about tree when you live in the town, and your property owner may not need the long run responsibility of ensuring those trees are healthy and not in the way of power lines.

An unhealthy tree can come down in heavy snow, ice, or in a heavy wind typhoon. If that occurs, the tree could hit the house, which is a dear accident. That's why you must always ask if you'd like to plant trees if you do not own your home yet. If you do own your very own home, think about those things when you would like to plant trees. While trees and plants can add privacy and beauty when you live in the middle of the city, trees can become liabilities. The most lovely trees have needed to be cut down in numerous areas because they were simply too near to houses or they were too near to the power lines to be trimmed safely. You may have trees, just put a little thought into where you are going to plant trees and plants in order that they aren't more of an issue in future years. Plants are a terrific way to get some privacy and they'll have a lengthy lifespan also. Just make absolutely certain you understand the character of the plants you wish to buy.

Some grow upwards, but others grow upwards and outwards, meaning they may end up taking up more space than you had originally allotted for them. Trees and plants both need room to grow. You will have to plant your plants so a great distance from one another initially that they offer nothing in the way of privacy, but be assured they are going to fill in the spaces within just a few years and you'll have your natural privacy barrier.

Trees and plants do need upkeep. This includes pruning, which should be done every year if you've a tree near power or wire lines, and for shrubs, you could be pruning them a number of times a growing season. They grow better and fill in better when pruned, and may grow in random directions if not trimmed back correctly. If you don't understand how to prune, or find it too tough to do, you will have to pay somebody to prune them for you. Otherwise, there may be some other little costs concerned. That doesn't stop the general public, as these plants are hearty and attractive, so be careful not to let it stop you either.

Landscaping Design for your Front Yard

garden landscaping design to improve the look of your home

One thing that can make or break the exterior of a home is the landscaping. Although a home with a few trees and a nice green lawn in front looks fine, there’s a lot to be said for a house that has an immaculate front yard landscape design. If you aren’t a designer and you can’t afford a professional gardener, there is still a lot you can do, on your own, to make your front yard come to life.

A great place to begin looking for ideas is near your own backyard. Actually the yards of your neighbors can give you some great hints of what looks good in a front yard landscape design. Obviously you don’t want to replicate it completely although imitation is said to be a form of flattery. Seeing what kinds of trees complement certain bushes, helps to give you some insight into what works well together.

If you inspire to surpass the design of any of your neighbors you may need to look beyond their yards and at some professional ideas. There are many magazines and websites that have color images of beautiful front yard landscape designs. Depending on the climate that you live in you will most likely be able to incorporate some of the ideas into your own front yard landscape plan.

Another way to get a sense of which plants thrive in your area is a visit to the local gardening store. Here you’ll not only find all types of plants, flowering bushes and shrubs, but you’ll also be able to talk to individuals who are experienced in landscaping. Many of the people who work at gardening stores have knowledge about front yard landscape designs. They can offer suggestions as to what plants would work well together to create the look that you desire.

It may seem that you’ll need to spend a lot of money to spruce up the exterior of your home. This need not be the case as you can still create a beautiful front yard landscape design on a budget. The key is finding plants, shrubs and trees that are affordable and then using them to their full advantage. A good example is purchasing some flowering trees that will bloom each spring. You can buy these when they are seedlings, which cost much less than a mature tree does. Each year it will fill out more, eventually creating a wonderful shady corner to the yard.

Always bear in mind that any project like this should be viewed as a work in progress. You can add a new element to your front yard landscape design each season. This helps to spread the cost over time and also allows you the chance to enjoy gardening as a hobby.
