So what do you think grass landscaping really is all about? Hopefully this report will include some interesting information about grass landscaping, information you might be able to use in your own lawn, not just that old stuff they used to let you know. It is known to everyone that landscaping will make the yard very attractive, at the same time attractiveness is not the sole benefit that we can enjoy from a properly planed and implemented landscaping.

Fall Landscaping Tips to Save Your Garden from the Harsh Effects of Winter People with newly discovered green thumbs may still be unaware of the fact that different types of flowers and plants require different methods of care. When landscaping with rocks, make sure to draw a plan of how you want everything to look when finished, taking into account anything that may already by in the yard and around the house. In the second place, it depends on what type of environment you want to create when landscaping with stones, because some prefer a simpler, a more modest, not too crowded places.

Once you have selected the landscaping firm, you have to ask for a legally binding agreement that contains each and every aspects of the contract. Our 'Maximum Build Planning Guide' explains further the issues on landscaping and trees and how they can affect development approval when extending your home for planning permission. Speculative residential development will most certainly benefit from a bit of thought put into a separate landscaping scheme at the Planning application stage - it also helps the drawings to look very 'pretty' as well.

Home buyers think they care more about the inside of a potential house than the landscaping, but in reality, most buyers won't even get out of their car if the curb appeal lacks the promise of great features inside. Following these recommendations won't necessarily guarantee landscaping success, but doing so will improve your odds of hiring the right landscaper considerably. Surprisingly, hand held hose watering was found to be the most water-efficient way to provide moisture to your landscaping.

If you plan your landscaping ahead, you can determine when each phase needs to be accomplished. With these few helpful tips, you can save money on your landscaping without sacrificing quality or beauty. Follow these simple tips and your tree should do well and require less watering and fertilizer than an unmulched tree.

Yet most landscaping owners use an inefficient and wasteful watering system. Symbolic meanings are associated with plants and other elements used in Japanese landscaping. The remaining portion of the slope can be creatively used using the rock garden ideas mentioned above with a combination of soft and hard landscaping.

Instead of creating terraces, another option is to keep the sloped land as it is and create a "rock garden" on the slope. What stones do is to bring completion to the process of creating a relaxing, comfortable and charming environment. Shading and evapotranspiration (which is what the process by which a plant moves and releases water vapor is called) from trees can reduce temperatures of surrounding air by up to 9

Go Green And Save Money With an Edible Landscape

More and more people are becoming increasingly concerned with protecting the environment and are choosing to go green. The green movement not only makes sense environmentally but also financially. We can save money, for instance, on our energy costs. We can also save on our grocery bills by growing our own fruits, vegetables, and culinary herbs. However, not everyone has enough room in their yard to devote a sizable plot of land to use for just vegetables. You really do not need to separate your vegetables from the ornamental plants in your landscape. In fact, you can intermix your fruits, vegetables, and culinary herbs with your ornamentals. In this way, all of your plants can share resources and actually work together to attract beneficial insects and repel harmful insects, thereby eliminating the temptation to use harmful chemicals in your garden.

An edible landscape does not mean that you plant a row or two of corn along the front of your house or block off a square plot of land next to your daylilies for your tomatoes or culinary herbs. To create an edible landscape, you need to incorporate fruits, vegetables, and culinary herbs into your garden of perennials and annuals. They need to be an actual part of the landscape and not separate from it.

Culinary herbs, for example, are easily incorporated into your landscape. I like to plant parsley and lemon thyme at the front of borders as edging plants. I have a large rosemary bush growing at the edge of a patch of daylilies where it offers some nice textural contrast, as well as, releasing a fantastic scent into the air whenever I brush past it. A pineapple sage is growing next to one of our birdbaths along with some cinnamon basil. I have other types of basil - sweet, lemon, lime - planted among my perennials where you would normally plant flowering annuals. I have thyme, which my husband is constantly using when he grills, planted in my scent garden. I have a large bed of wildflowers, which also contains about ten different types of mints that I use for cooking and in teas and other drinks. Of course, garlic and chives can be found inter-planted with my roses. As I mentioned earlier, it is extremely easy to work herbs into your landscape. Their foliage can compliment your other perennials or offer interesting contrasts. The many herbal scents also tend to attract beneficial insects and confuse - thereby repelling - harmful insects. You are, therefore, able to go green by gardening organically through this type of companion planting.

You might think that incorporating vegetables into your landscape would be a bit more difficult; however, such is not the case. You just need to think in a different way about how you are designing your garden. Where you might normally plant perennials or annuals, you are now planting vegetables instead. For example, if you want something tall at the back of a border, you can plant some corn. Train cherry tomatoes to climb an arbor leading into a garden area and imagine popping a ripe tomato into your mouth as you go to check on how your perennials are blooming. Last year, I had yellow squash growing at the end of a garden path. You can have beans growing on a trellis where you might have had morning glories. I needed something in front of my cannas to add some balance to the overall look, so I planted some hot peppers. They did extremely well there last year and contrasted well with the cannas. If you would like a specimen plant in your garden, you can never go wrong with rhubarb. You might decide to be like my daughter, who thinks that I should plant radishes everywhere because she likes their foliage and flowers.

Of course, you can plant fruit and nut trees instead of a maple or Bradford pear. Some people living near us have grape vines growing on their decorative log fence in their front yard. I have blackberries growing along a section of my deck - conveniently close to my backdoor. You can plant blueberry bushes, too, instead of an ornamental shrub.

An edible landscape can be aesthetically pleasing, functional, environmentally sound, and economical -- all at the same time. Precious resources are shared by plants that are there just for their looks with fruits, vegetables, and culinary herbs which will find their way into your kitchen. Harmful insects are discouraged by the companion planting while beneficial insects are lured to your garden, resulting in no need for harmful chemicals. Also, with an edible landscape, you can even nibble on some fruit or a vegetable while you are gathering gladioli or irises for a bouquet.

Tropical Plant Pizzazz For Southern Landscapes

Tropical Plant Pizzazz For Southern Landscapes

There are many tropical plants that thrive as annuals in the warm, sunny South. Here are five that would add color and dazzle to any yard with a minimum of fuss.

Bananas

Bananas deliver tropical beauty while remaining very easy to maintain. They look especially nice around pools and in other landscapes where you’d want an exotic touch. The red-leafed banana plants are even more exotic!

Hibiscus

The standard red hibiscus is well known to most gardeners and landscapers, but what few people know is that the plant is available in a dizzying array of attractive colors and huge bloom sizes (some varieties have flowers up to 12 inches across). Some even sport bicolor blooms.

Blue Daze

This lovely low-growing plant displays gray-green foliage and bright blue flowers that last all summer long. Its soft color blend goes beautifully in almost any landscape.

Mandevilla

This drop-dead gorgeous vine is a must-have, and is especially stunning when trained up a large trellis. The large, brilliant pink flowers stand out against the deep green of its foliage.

Lemon Lollipop

This shrub-type of tropical plant is highly unique and adds texture and interest to landscaping. The yellow flower spikes are a striking asset to flower beds.

If you’re looking for a little extra spark for your Southern yard this year, then be sure to take a serious look at these tropical treats.  All they need is plenty of sunshine and water throughout their long growing season, and they will amply reward your efforts with brilliant blooms.

My submission for week 8/52 of the 2010 Challenge.. The theme is "Natural Landscape".

The idea is to get natural landscape unspoiled by civilization. No people up there in the trees! Not sure why, but the fine details in the edges of the trees seem to pop out into 3D a little.
The details are more easily apparent if you View On Black.
