Question by Michelle T: What can I put down to keep my cat from using the bathroom in the landscaping?
I have small gravel in the landscaping in front of my house. My outdoor cats use the gravel for their litterbox. I have tried pepper, ammonia, Listerine, and moth balls. Nothing so far has worked to keep them away. I have put out litter boxes so they can use them, and they do, but they keep coming back to the gravel.

I am open to suggestions, as long as it is safe for the animals.

A litterbox in the house, and keep the cat inside. Seriously, they're okay inside and won't bring in fleas or squirrels.

Question by Thomas Z: What is the best approach to get rid of weeds & grass from landscaping (stones)?
We moved into our recently purchased house here in (MI), now that the snow is finally gone and the everything is growing/blooming, we are finding that the landscaping has some issues. The main problem is that weeds and grass is starting to grow through the white landscaping rocks. I'm not sure how long the landscaping has been there. In some of the areas I can see the black mesh material. I want to have a nicely landscape yard, and I guess I actually have that, except for the weeds and grass popping up. Any suggestions?

An easy solution, if there aren't too many weeds, is to keep a spray bottle of white vinegar handy. Spray the weeds, let them dry out for a day - that will make them easy to rip out. The vinegar is environmentally friendly.

Are the spaces between the stones large enough to put your hand in? If so, maybe you can stuff some black weed paper in there. This is a thin, black, felt-like material that impedes plant growth. I put it under my mulch in the landscaping beds last year, and I didn't get any weed growth.

Good luck!

Question by .: What should roofers do to protect landscaping from rubble damage?
My next door neighbors are having a new roof put on their home. The falling rubble is destroying my landscaping -it's a foot deep on my property, stretching 20 feet from the house next door onto my property. What, if anything, are professional roofers supposed to be doing to protect other peoples' property from damage? I've lost a whole garden so far.
